Description
Calcium hydroxide is used in the 1-2-3 fructose indigo dye vat to create an alkali base. A 1-2-3 indigo vat will require a pH level of 10 for both cellulose & protein fibres. However, protein fibres will dye with a pH of 9-10 and cellulose pH 10-11.5. If dyeing protein fibres remember to complete a final rinse in a slightly acid base, white vinegar will do, to protect the fibres.
